The only reason to choose the 735XT over the Forerunner 245 is if you do triathlons. If you don’t do triathlons, go with the FR245. It’s a top class GPS running watch packed with all of Garmin’s latest technology, and it hits the sweet spot in terms of features, value and price.
Just an update. I got a 910XT (cheaply) from another triathlete. I used both watches last night, still on the wrist, just for comparison. I also deleted all of the user data at Garmin Support's request. the results were startling. The 735XT reported 800+ yards per lap, the 910 (on the other wrist) reported 538.
